The July sun shined brightly on the 13th Annual Deutsche Classic German Automotive Event held on Saturday, July 8th. Aficionados of German cars, trucks and motorcycles converged to the Oley Fairgrounds for the Mid-Atlantic region’s premier German automotive event.

The fairgrounds were filled with the likes of Mercedes Benz, Porsche, BMW, Audi, Opel and of course, the ever popular Volkswagens in addition to a nice selection of about a dozen German motorcycles. Kit cars, powered by VW engines have been popular since the Dune Buggy days and there was even a class for “Assembled Cars”.

The awards for the event are hand-crafted from hard woods and adorned with German automotive memorabilia. They are truly unique and much coveted by those in attendance.

In addition to the car show there was a tire tossing contest and also a “Ladies In Jeans” competition where the ladies in attendance compete for prizes by answering multiple choice German automotive trivia questions.

In the end, the traditional “Good Time Was Had By All”…which I wish I could say in German.
