Folks in the Daniel Boone School District have a chance to celebrate Independence Day a little early this year at the second annual Blazer Days Carnival.
Beginning Wednesday and culminating in a fireworks display on Saturday, the four-day carnival is an opportunity for the Daniel Boone community to support the Blazer Education Foundation, which in turn supports the students.
“All of our funds go toward the students of the school district,” said Michelle Miller, foundation executive director. “Nothing comes back to us, so we’re just trying to help the kids at Boone.”
At the high school, the foundation has helped support a greenhouse and a broadcast journalism studio in which students can explore what it’s like to work on a newscast, as well as helping the theater department buy new wireless microphones.
The foundation also contributed to an outdoor classroom and nature trail at Amity Elementary Center, and has a greenhouse is in the works at the middle school.
The carnival at the high school outside Birdsboro will have food, face-painting, amusement rides, local vendors, music and other attractions.
General admission is free, but attendees must buy a wristband at the ticket booth for access to unlimited amusement rides.
“We do want to raise money, but we also want this to be an event at which everyone can come together and enjoy the holiday,” Miller said.
This story has been updated to correct the prices of rides during the carnival.
