American Legion Post 934 of Exeter Township announces the 34th Community Memorial Day Parade and Service.
It will be held on Monday, May 25. For 2015 the Exeter American Legion Post would like to recognize the service and commitment of our police. We have gotten such great feedback, mentioning this as we talk to organizations that participate in the parade each year, that we are announcing the theme of the parade early this year. The ribbon color will be blue.
The committee hopes that community members will incorporate recognition of our local police as you participate in or come to see the parade to honor law enforcement and the people who serve our community every day. The service which follows honors those who have died serving our country and our local police; it will be held rain or shine. In the event of rain, cancellation of the parade will be announced on radio station WEEU 830 AM by 7:30 AM.
The parade will begin at 9 a.m. at Exeter high school and conclude with a service at Forest Hills Memorial Park.
Plan to arrive by 8:15 a.m. to participate. Please enter from Route 422 on 37th Street. You will be directed to your spot by local volunteer Fire Police. American Legion Post and Auxiliary Unit members will pass out ribbons and help you find your location. The First Division (veterans, speakers, and Exeter groups) will assemble from 37th Street above Exeter high school to the parking lot behind the school. The Second Division (groups from Mt. Penn, Antietam, and surrounding areas) will assemble from the parking lot below the high school to the driveway which exits at Reiff Place. All police participants will assemble on Reiff Place. Antique and classic cars always line up on Woodland Avenue.
The service will end at approximately 11:15 a.m.
