Kutztown’s 10U tournament softball team participated in their lasttournament of the season and saw some of the fiercest competition this season,but that didn’t stop them from another championship.
With timely hitting fromKaela Fritz , Olivia Zehl and Katie Calkins the offense was unstoppable.Pitching was outstanding as well with appearances from Katie Calkins and EmilyMaddock who kept batters at bay and combining for a 4-2 victory over aNorthwestern Travel team.
The defense behind the pitching was also effective, with a couple ofglove gems by Abby Reasoner, Olivia Zehl and Ashley Wentzel, not to mentionawesome play at first base by Kelsey Yob.
All the girls did a great job, including Madilyn Overly and Taylor Moyer, and a girl with a verybright future in this game, Julia Zehl.
There was one wounded warrior onthe bench (sprained ankle),but Lexi Swavely was still cheering her teammatesto another championship.
Kutztown’s first game in the tournament was played against a Northwesterntravel team. The Cycloneswon the game, 11-6.
Next was a game against PYC, again Kutztown won,5-3. In the championship game, Kutztown squared off against Northwestern. Kutztown won the game and the tournament, 4-2.
